Letter to the Editors
Dear
editor(s)
You folks do great work putting out this newsletter. It is a great
way to communicate with members and for members to communicate with
the community. There is so much going on here that it is not possible
to cover in a small newsletter. And I know that our members are
very busy fighting the evil empire (aka the 'evil axis')(aka Bush,
Doyle and Pataki) and don't have much time to write for the newsletter.
But the February issue had 8 of 12 pages devoted to condensations
of articles from various national news sources, the internet, Sydney
Australia and Paris France. What happened to Mongolia and Mars?
Do we really need to hear about the WEF, WTO, FTAA, defense boondoggles,
and the destruction of the constitution from the usual sources.
Rochester is part of the same world and the corporate agenda is
at work here doing the same things.
You want Boeing boondoggles when the infrastructure is crumbling?
How about another thruway exit, sports stadium, zoo expansion, fast
ferry, bus terminal, etc when a hospital closes and the schools
are broke?
You want corporate corruption when the workers get screwed?--Never
mind Enron and Argentina. How about Global Crossing, Davenport Machine
and the health care workers around town?
How about pushing people off welfare and food stamps and child care
when jobs are disappearing and COMIDA gives subsidies to big companies?
What about the monster salaries at the top of the health care pyramid
when so many people do not have access to health care?
You want freedom of information stories from the San Francisco Chronicle?
How about the prince of darkness that forces county legislators
to file FOI when they have questions about county operations?
You want a farewell to liberty with U.S. support of dictatorships
and the secret military tribunals of attorney general John KKK Ashcroft
(the terrorist lover)?
How about the unrelenting, unethical and unamerican activities of
the capitalist taliban (aka chamber of commerce) when it comes to
their opposition to the human right of workers to form a union?
Their fundamentalist religion of money and profit contradicts the
principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Everyone that works deserves total access to the best health care.
So does every family with children. So does everyone over 60. So
do the unemployed and disabled. Everyone deserves a job at a living
wage. Is this an unreasonable vision of a just society? Is it fair
to label those who oppose it an evil axis or a capitalist taliban?
Make no mistake about it. George Bush, George Pataki and George
(sic) Doyle are an evil axis bent on reducing the American worker
to the status of a third world sweatshop worker. The 3 Georges (sic)
are a greater threat to peace, justice and democracy than George
III. And the international corporations that harbor the ideology
of pauperizing workers and denying human rights deserve invidious
comparison.
With this in mind, the newsletter looks pretty good. Thank you.
It is a health tonic compared to the major media which report on
sex scandals and alien abductions while ignoring the robbery in
progress daily in Washington, corporate boardrooms and the state
capitols.
Overexposure to our local major media will cause your brain to ferment
into a loaf of genetically modified hamburger scum. Keep up the
good work. Tell the members and the community what is happening
HERE.

EDITORS Comment: We appreciate Bill's energy and concern around
improving the newsletter, and particularly his own frequent contributions
on local issues. We also would like more local content. We encourage
others to follow his example and submit articles on the kinds of
local topics he suggests. As with external articles, we select material
that makes interesting reading on social/economic justice issues
and does not duplicate stories recently appearing in other publications
that our readers probably consult.
Write On.
