While Metro Justice has been gathering thousands of petition signatures and diligently lobbying County leaders, RG&E has been making sure their "regulators" in Albany will let them raise our community's rates again! This not only shows RG&E's corporate greed, but also Albany's inability to protect the public from monopolies like RG&E.
The time has come for Monroe County to do the right thing about the RG&E crisis: Commission & Fund the Study on replacing RG&E with a local public utility! The people of Monroe County have already waited too long for a public solution to the corporate greed and persistent incompetence of RG&E. The City already did its part in June by co-funding the Study - now it's Monroe County's turn to step up.
At the County Legislature Meeting on Tuesday, November 14th, we'll start with a short rally at 5:30 PM in the atrium of the Monroe County Legislature building, then head upstairs together to the meeting that begins at 6 PM. We'll share our RG&E stories and why we want a public utility, then demand they vote to fund and commission a public utility study before the end of the year. We'll stay until about 8:30 PM to see if they vote.
Come tell the Monroe County Legislature: Study Public Power Now!
