Support Positive School Climate
Rally For a New Code of Conduct!
Hundreds of students are being arrested in the Rochester City School District, and thousands are being suspended every year. Students of color and those with disabilities are disproportionately affected. Most of these suspensions and arrests are for minor and non-violent offenses. This is what is called the school-to-prison pipeline.
One way to break to the school-to-prison pipeline is with better school policies. It's time to support a New Code of Conduct for next year. A group of stakeholders has convened to rewrite the code of conduct. The new code will remove criminal language and instead focus on supporting children with the right programs and services they need.
Join us at the Board of Education on Thursday, May 28th. The press conference will begin at 6pm, then we will pack the board meeting.
