The State Senate released a One House Budget last week that steals from the poor and gives to the rich. The State Senate Proposed 6 new funding formulas for public schools, and 5 of the 6 exclude the Rochester City School District. The new formulas takse money away from high needs districts and redistributes it to suburban districts.
Even one formula for English Language Learners does not apply to Rochester, despite the fact Rochester has the most English Language Learners in Monroe County. There is no mention of poverty or disability in any of these new formulas. This is unacceptable! Metro Justice and the Alliance for Quality Education is holding a press conference outside Senator Robach's office on Friday to demand he stands up for his district and commits to fully funding public schools.
