As a part of our Rochester for Energy Democracy Campaign, Metro Justice is a member organization of the NY Energy Democracy Alliance. We're excited to invite you to the Energy Democracy Alliance's film festival and speakout for utility justice
It is the 11th month of a global pandemic, and some of us have to make the hard decision of paying electric bills or rent bills this month. No one should have to live in fear of not being able to make their utility bills and facing the threat of a utility shut off for their home or business. Furthermore, the utilities are not accountable to anyone, and build fossil fuel infrastructure through our communities which exacerbates an accelerating climate crisis. We encourage you to join us for this film festival to learn more about how for-profit, investor-owned-utilities are harming New Yorkers and what we can do to fight back.
When: February 18th, 5:30 P.M. - 7 PM.
Where: Attend by computer or call in (link and phone# will be sent to you)
Why: Energy is a human right!
This event will feature video testimonials from people negatively impacted by utilities during the pandemic, live feeds from organizations committed to energy justice, and small group discussions. Please join us and add your voice to this important conversation.
