A new white paper by NY healthcare economists shows that under the terms of the New York Health Act, Monroe County would save $260 million annually on its healthcare costs. Rochester would save about $76 million annually, and the Rochester City School District would save a whopping $231 million. Annually. This is math, not hype. A statewide single payer system would be funded through income-based, affordable payments from all of us, instead of by high-cost insurance and charging sick people (who can least afford it) - and leaving county hospitals on the hook for the unpaid bills.
