Restaurant workers face sexual harassment at rates higher than workers in nearly any other profession, with little to no protection. In fact, the standard attitude towards sexual advances in the restaurant industry is that accepting them is a part of the job. The Restaurant Opportunity Center has released the report The Glass Floor: Sexual Harassment in the Restaurant Industry. The report reveals a disturbing picture in the restaurant industry. Even though only 7% of American women work in restaurants, they account for 37% of EEOC sexual harassment claims. Restaurant workers locally have stood up to fight against sexual harassment in Rochester restaurants.
