Annual Dinner 2026 - Metro Justice

Annual Dinner 2026

You are cordially invited!  We hope that you can join us for our organization’s most celebrated fundraising event: The Metro Justice Annual Dinner on May 9, 2026 at AFSCME Council 66 (1956 Lyell Ave. in Rochester, NY). Doors open at 5:00pm, with the program to begin at 5:45 pm.

Your ticket purchases and sponsorship will help fuel and support the campaigns that Metro Justice stands for. Your generosity can help our organization maintain its strong and uncompromising voice in the community; fighting for social, economic, and racial justice.  We hope you will join us for an evening of food, fun, and community.

Our Keynote Speaker this year is Brandon Mancilla, UAW Region 9A Director.

Born in New York City to a working-class immigrant family, Brandon Mancilla's lifelong engagement with building worker power has seen him spearhead a successful graduate organizing drive at UAW Local 5118 (the Harvard Graduate Students Union), where he served as President of the Local and worked as an organizing staffer while balancing duties as a teaching and research assistant. He also spent time as a staff organizer at UAW Local 2325 (Association of Legal Aid Attorneys) in New York before winning election to his present role as Director of UAW Region 9A in 2022, after which the Local offered an early endorsement in the Democratic primary for Zohran Mamdani's mayoral campaign. Able to speak to pathways to successful organizing at the level of day-to-day work as well as the broader role of organized labor in creating material change, we felt that Brandon Mancilla would be an ideal speaker for anyone invested in building up power — and demanding better — especially in the present moment .

Dinner will be catered by Agatina's Restaurant. Beer & Wine will also be available. (Please fill out this form if you have any dietary restrictions).

Please join us on May 9th! Tickets, sponsorships, and dinner booklet ads for the dinner can be purchased below.

Please Note — we don't want to let dietary restrictions, accessibility concerns, or childcare needs to keep anyone from attending and participating in the event! To that end, please fill out this form if you have dietary restrictions (e.g. food allergies, vegan, or gluten-free), you need childcare assistance for the evening (provided onsite for all in attendance, or if there are other accommodations that would be a help.

We look forward to seeing you on May 9, 2026 for an evening of delicious food and stimulating conversation.  If you’re unable to attend, please consider purchasing an ad or greeting in our 60th Anniversary program, or making a contribution to Metro Justice to ensure we remain an independent grassroots organization for years to come.

New Event Announcement: Pre-Dinner Meet-and-Greet with Keynote Speaker Brandon Mancilla (4pm onsite)

We're excited to pilot a pre-dinner meet-and-greet this year, allowing attendees to get to know our keynote speaker. Attendees will have a chance to meet our speaker and other attendees in a small group over refreshments and hors d'oeuvres.

During that same time (starting at 4pm), we'll also have an opportunity to participate in guided tours of the soon-to-open Rochester Labor Library — led by the volunteers who have done the tremendous work of establishing the space. Limited admission to the Meet-and-Greet will be provided with Friend, Ally, Activist, Community Leader, and Community Champion sponsorships with further ticketing options soon to be announced. (You can find full details with each of the ticketing tiers below).

Thank you and we'll hope to see you there!
