Every successful school is a community, and every community needs a thriving school. Metro Justice and the Alliance for Quality Education will be holding a press conference at School 44, on Thursday, April 24, at 11am. Parents and community members will be calling on the New York State Legislature to include an additional $200 Million for community schools in their state budget. This funding is essential so schools may stay open longer, with more enriching programs and services to draw the community into the school building.
School 44 has long been a fixture in the Southwest of Rochester, and with additional funding it could provide more activities and programs for the surrounding community. Community schools increase parent engagement which improves attendance, relationships with staff, and academic achievement.
Please join us this Thursday at School 44 (820 Chili Ave, Rochester, NY 14611) at 11am to support more funding for community schools!
