Tired of high utility bills? Want to see faster progress in greening our energy infrastructure? Want to get involved in long-term climate justice work at Metro Justice?
Here’s your chance to SPEAK OUT and tell RG&E you reject higher utility bills and RG&E's expansion of gas infrastructure using our rate-payer dollars. As a part of our emerging efforts to build a climate justice movement in Rochester, Metro Justice is joining forces with environmental organizations across Rochester to fight this rate case and win tangible improvements in our energy system for our community.
RG&E recently proposed to raise utility rates by 5.4% on the delivery portion of our monthly electricity bills, and 4.0% on the delivery portion of our monthly gas bills. Moreover, RG&E/NYSEG continue to expand gas infrastructure and incentivize fossil fuel based technologies, thus moving us away -- not toward -- meeting NY State’s newest and necessary goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.
Home energy is a basic human need that no one should struggle to afford. Furthermore, our energy system must also ensure a clean, renewable, and sustainable future for all of our communities! Green energy and clean technologies are available, effective, and necessary to halt our climate crisis, so we must insist on this transition.
