Metro Justice is excited to announce the opening of our new community room, directly adjacent to our office. This has been a project several months in the making as part of Metro Justice's dedication to supporting popular education and political engagement in the progressive Rochester Community.
This 800 sq/ft space will be for Metro Justice, it's members, as well as for our allies to use for meetings, film screenings, events, and other educational purposes. We hope you'll join us for an open house and and pot luck event in the new space:
When: Friday, August 3rd from 6-9 pm
Where: 1115 East Main St., Door #7
In the lead up to this event there are two things you can do to make this a vibrant community space:
1) First, participate in the naming contest! That's right, we want to know what you think the room should be called. The council has recommended that it be named after an historic, radical, and/or progressive person or event. In this way the room itself will be an educational moment for everyone who enters the space. The Metro Justice Council will review the entries and vote on the best one. You can make your suggestion here!
2) Second, donate! We have raised enough money so far to rent the space, compete with refrigerator and kitchenette, and to do some basic renovations. And members have already donated audio and visual equipment, as well as time and energy to renovating this old industrial studio. However, now we need YOU to help make this space truly exceptional! We're asking for donations to help us purchase folding tables, stackable chairs, and some basic kitchen supplies, so that it can truly be a flexible and inviting community space. We're like to raise enough money to go into a rent fund that will allow us to preserve and maintain this space well into the future! You can donate to support the community space here!
