The New York Health Act has just been Reintroduced in the Senate and Assembly! And we are getting reorganized and reinvigorated to go the distance! Join us to help design Rochester's role in the statewide healthcare coalition.

Senator Gustavo Rivera and Assemblymember Amy Paulin have reintroduced the New York Health Act, complete with the latest revisions and clarifications. And the Campaign for New York Health has a new lead organizer, who will join us by zoom to present a new statewide strategy to build the Campaign for New York Health into a force that can overcome entrenched corporations to bring universal, comprehensive, affordable healthcare in our state.

Clearly this long fight has not been an easy one, but it is one we can win! Join us to learn the steps we need to take to gain the power we need to succeed.

For some background: Metro Justice is a founding member of the Campaign for New York Health: a statewide movement to pass the New York Health Act so that we have universal, public health care in New York State. No more deductibles, no more co-pays, no more surprise bills. Health care is a human right. 

Thanks to 6 years of organizing by everyday people across NYS, we reached a milestone towards victory in March 2021. The Campaign for New York Health and primary sponsors of the NY Health Act -- Assembly Member Richard Gottfried and Senator Gustavo Rivera -- introduced the NY Health Act with MAJORITY SUPPORT in BOTH the NYS Assembly and Senate for the first time ever. 

We congratulate all of our members that kept us in the fight for the years it took to reach this milestone. We thank our entire local Democratic delegation to the NYS Legislature for listening to their constituents and co-sponsoring the NY Health Act, which has been a lynch-pin in this fight. We also know the fight for universal healthcare is far from over. We need to continue buildling power to make sure the NY Health Act comes to a vote and passes, and to ensure just implementation.
