We can replace RG&E and their foreign corporate owners with a locally owned public utility that gives us lower rates, better service, and more local union jobs! But, the Mayor and City Council of Rochester are dragging their feet on the first step in this process: fully funding and commissioning a comprehensive study.
It’ll take a lot of public pressure from residents to outweigh RG&E's political influence and convince the City to lead in the interest of residents. Since August, our campaign has been going door-to-door in the Beechwood Neighborhood to raise awareness on the fight for a public utility and get people involved in fighting back against RG&E. We hold an intro event and potluck every month where Beechwood residents can meet their neighbors, ask questions about public utilities and the steps to create one locally, and discuss how to bring in more people to stand strong against RG&E and push legislators to study creating a public utility.
Our next community intro event and potluck is Sunday, October 13th. Will you join us for a phonebank on Saturday, October 12th to call Beechwood residents and encourage them to attend?
Snacks, beverages, a short training, and concise script will be provided! Please bring your phone. Please additionally bring a laptop or tablet and a headset for your phone, if you have those things. The phonebank is from 12 - 3 PM.
RSVP below!
Accessibility note: The office is up a flight of stairs. If stairs present a barrier to you but you would like to walk to door knock, please contact [email protected] so we can set you up to phonebank from home!
