THIS EVENT HAS BEEN MOVED FROM FAIRPORT HIGH SCHOOL TO THE FEDERATION OF SOCIAL WORKERS HALL (740 Driving Park Ave, Suite A, Rochester, 14613). Thanks for your understanding!
Fed up with RG&E? You're not alone!
If you live in Fairport, your power company is actually under public, local, and community control. All Monroe County residents deserve the same. In June, the City of Rochester committed $500,000 to Study replacing RG&E with a local public utility. Monroe County needs to do its part and commission the Study. But to do that, they need to hear from you!
Come to Rochester for Energy Democracy's Fairport Town Hall meeting with County Legislators, to share your RG&E stories, and learn how you can join the movement to replace RG&E with public utility. Your stories will also help guide the County Legislature to replace RG&E with a public utility that will be greener and more affordable.
RG&E, a for-profit company owned by Iberdrola based in Spain, extracts $95 million a year in profits from our community with little reinvestment. RG&E is trying to increase their delivery rates by nearly 35% over 3 years! All at a time when Monroe County's families are facing staggering cost of living increases.
This Town Hall meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 25th from 6:30-8 PM at the Federation of Social Workers Hall (740 Driving Park Ave, Suite A, Rochester, NY 14613). Arrive between 5:30-6 PM for free food, sponsored by Metro Justice, from Rob's Kabobs Food Truck prior to the start of the town hall!
