No Military Action in Syria! Sign the Petition!

Congress is currently debating whether or not to authorize military action in Syria. They need to hear from us now! On Thursday, Metro Justice will be delivering these petitions to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand. Schumer has already said that he is in support of military action and Gillibrand has said she is undecided. They need to hear our voices today!

The costs, both financial and human, to these sort of endeavors are always massive. When we are told there isn't enough money for education, health care, housing, or to rebuild our crumbling cities, why are billions suddenly available for war?

Tell your Senators that we don't need more US military interventions around the world, but a solid social safety net and an end to the poverty that kills people in the US every day.

There is no such thing as humanitarian bombing. War is war! The evidence for the scenario this attack is being based on is flimsy at best. But even if it were true, there would be a better way to support peace and justice in the Middle East.

Most of the world opposes this war, and for whatever reason, Russia is taking an increasingly active role on the side of the Syrian government. We are approaching a revisit of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Starting another war is abusive, illegal and dangerous. Those who live by the sword will die by the sword.

Senator Schumer, Please don’t waste our resources in another overseas conflict. Let’s focus on our own.

I believe the situation is so complex, and also dangerous to Syria and the entire region, that a US military strike would very likely further embitter elements in that country and others, rendering an already extremely difficult diplomatic process even less likely to achieve an end of armed conflict and some kind of reconciliation there.
